Join Cobbleverse
Cobbleverse is a private Minecraft + Cobblemon server for friends. Anyone can install the pack, but only people I've added can join. This takes about 15 minutes, most of it waiting for downloads.
What you need
- Minecraft: Java Edition on your Microsoft account. That's the PC version, not Bedrock, Xbox, Switch or mobile. "Minecraft for Windows" includes Java Edition.
- A Windows or Mac computer with at least 16 GB of RAM.
- About 5 GB of free disk space.
1. Install the Modrinth App
The Modrinth App installs the modpack and launches Minecraft for you. You don't need to install Minecraft separately. The app gets the right Minecraft version (1.21.1), mod loader and Java by itself.
- Download it from modrinth.com/app and install it.
- Open it and click Sign in (bottom left) with the Microsoft account that owns Minecraft. A Modrinth account is optional.
2. Install COBBLEVERSE 1.7.42
Your pack version must match the server exactly, or you can't join. Never update the pack, even if the app offers to. I'll post here when the server moves to a new version.
- In the Modrinth App, click Discover content (the compass icon), choose Modpacks and search for COBBLEVERSE.
- Open COBBLEVERSE and go to the Versions tab.
- Find 1.7.42 and click the download button on that row. Don't use the big Install button at the top, because it installs the newest version.
- Wait for the download. It's large, so this takes a few minutes.
- Give it enough memory: open the instance in your Library, click the settings (gear) icon, then Sync overrides. Turn on Custom memory allocation and set it to 6144 (16 GB computer) or 8192 (32 GB computer). The slider stays greyed out until the switch is on.
3. Send me your Minecraft username
The server only lets in people I've added, so I need your Java Edition username first. It's the name the Modrinth App shows after you sign in. It's not your Xbox gamertag, and the two are often different.
4. Add the server and join
- In the Modrinth App, click Play on COBBLEVERSE. The first launch takes a few minutes.
- Click Multiplayer, then Add Server. Use any name you
like, and the address
cobbleverse.xankara.ca. - Click Done, then double-click the server to join.
5. Recommended settings
These are client-side, so only you can change them.
- Music: on the title screen, Mods → Infinite Music → settings → preset MC Default. By default the pack plays music nonstop. This preset adds a 15–20 minute gap between tracks.
- Sun and moon (only with shaders): Options → Video Settings → Shader Packs → Shader Pack Settings → Visual Style → Reimagined.
- Shaders are optional. If the game runs slowly, press K in-game to toggle them.
Good to know
- Hunger is on, and Pokémon can attack you. Regular Minecraft mobs are disabled.
- There's no minimap, and that's on purpose. Press M for the full world map.
- You can only open your box at a PC. PCs spawn in Pokémon Centers and are easy to craft.
- The server restarts now and then for backups and maintenance. If you get disconnected, wait a minute and rejoin.
If something goes wrong
